6.8/10

My recent stay at the Cairn Hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. While the location is fantastic and makes it easy to explore Harrogate, I found the hotel's rooms quite dated and in need of attention. The lack of transparency with added charges, particularly for pets and children's breakfast, was disappointing. Overall, I believe the hotel has great potential but could significantly improve guest experience with a few updates.

Rooms
5.0
The room was quite small and poorly maintained, with dusty surfaces and outdated decor. While the bathroom was clean, it had some minor issues like a loose bath panel, and I had trouble with the plugs. Overall, it didn't live up to the 'superior' label.
Service
5.0
The bar staff were friendly, but I found that some of the front office staff could improve their customer service skills. I had to ask for amenities that should have been in the room, and there was a lack of responsiveness at times.
Location
5.0
The hotel's location is definitely a highlight. It's just a short walk to the town centre, making it convenient for shopping and dining. It's perfect for exploring beautiful Harrogate.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was a bit of a letdown, as the service was slow and the food seemed to have been sitting out for a while. The limited staff also made the dining experience drag, which was frustrating early in the morning.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel offers various amenities like room service and a large parking area, but the overall maintenance of the facilities feels neglected. The communal areas have potential but appeared mostly empty.

I stayed at the Cairn Hotel for two nights and found it to have a charming atmosphere, though it felt a bit dated. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and I appreciated the spacious room and comfortable bed that allowed for a good night's sleep. However, there were a few drawbacks, such as limited power outlets and some areas that could use a refresh.

Rooms
6.0
The Classic Twin Room offered ample space, but the decor was a bit tired, with some carpet wrinkles and an outdated bathroom suite. Otherwise, the room was clean and provided a comfy bed.
Service
7.0
The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful throughout my stay, which added to the welcoming vibe of the hotel, even if the check-in process was a tad slow.
Location
8.0
The location is ideal, being just a short walk to the town center while benefiting from ample free parking, making it convenient for exploring Harrogate.
Dining
5.0
Dining at the hotel was a mixed bag; breakfast was decent, but I found the evening meal lacking in quality and variety, with some dishes being underwhelming.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel had several useful facilities, such as room service and dry cleaning, but I did notice that the gym closed earlier than expected.

5.6/10

My stay at the Cairn Hotel was a mix of comfort and dated charm. The room I had was spacious and very clean, with a modern bathroom and comfortable beds. However, some areas of the hotel appeared to be in need of renovation, particularly the breakfast room, which felt a bit shabby. The staff were friendly and attentive, making my stay enjoyable overall.

Rooms
8.0
The room was spacious and clean, with very comfortable beds and a modern bathroom. I did notice that some areas of the hotel, including the hallways, could use some updates, but the cleanliness made a positive impression.
Service
7.0
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with whatever I needed. However, during breakfast, there seemed to be some confusion with staff assignments, which affected the service a bit. But the efficiency of the breakfast staff was commendable, even in a busy environment.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location was perfect for my needs, being just a short walk from the town center and key attractions. The parking was excellent too, which made things more convenient.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast offered a variety of tasty options, though some items could have been better prepared. The porridge was especially nice, but I felt that certain aspects needed more attention to detail, particularly regarding freshness.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel offered essential facilities such as room service and a well-stocked bar. However, it lacked the little extras that could elevate the experience further, such as better in-room amenities.

I had a pleasant stay at the Cairn Hotel, appreciating its unique Victorian charm and great location just a short walk from the town center. The room was spacious and clean, and I enjoyed a hearty breakfast each morning. However, I did notice some areas could use improvement, particularly with the outdated gym facilities and an occasional issue with room temperature. Overall, it was a good experience! 😊

Rooms
8.0
My room was refurbished, spacious, and clean, though the bathroom was a bit dated. I appreciated the good size of the room and the lovely biscuit selection provided. However, the cupboard had unfinished flooring, which was a minor detail that stood out.

The hotel's location is perfect for exploring Harrogate, just a 5-minute walk to the town center with plenty of parking available. I loved being able to walk to all the local amenities easily! 🏙️
Dining

Breakfast offered a great selection of hot and cold items, and I found the cooked breakfast particularly enjoyable. Although I wish there were pastries available, the overall dining experience was solid.
Facilities
6.0
While the hotel has some nice amenities, like plenty of public space and a big airy feel, I found the gym to be quite basic and outdated. It would benefit from some renovations to enhance guests' experience.

My recent stay at the Cairn Hotel in Harrogate was quite enjoyable. The building has a majestic charm, though it does show signs of age and could benefit from some refurbishment. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, adding to the experience, although the dining options left a bit to be desired. Overall, I appreciated the spaciousness of my room and the location's convenience, which made my trip more pleasant.

Rooms
8.0
I found my room to be spacious and accommodating, with beautiful original features that highlighted the hotel's history. However, some areas, like the window surrounds and ceiling paper, could use a little TLC.
Service
8.0
The staff were lovely and customer-oriented, especially during breakfast, where I received great service from a welcoming Scottish gentleman. Although they seemed a bit overworked at times, they were all pleasant and eager to help.
Location
9.0
The location was perfect for me, just a short walk into town. It made it easy to explore Harrogate and enjoy the local attractions while being close to the Harrogate Convention Centre.
Dining
6.0
The dining experience was the weakest point of my stay. Breakfast was adequate but somewhat boring, while the evening meal felt more like a mass catering than fine dining, lacking variety and not meeting my expectations based on the hotel's marketing.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel offered amenities like room service and a good car park, which was handy. While these aspects were decent, overall facilities could be polished to enhance guest experience.
